Michelle called at 9:30 pm to tell me that Grandma died this morning. They found her half-way in bed with her head resting on a window sill. This was a death that was completely unnecessary. From what I know, she was in the early stages of Alzheimer's. She was living in an assisted living residence and they knew that she had begun to have problems with falling out of bed. Why didn't they have railings on her bed? Why wasn't she restrained in some way? Why didn't they check on her more often?Update, July: Her autopsy results say that she fell while trying to get out of bed, hit her head on the window sill which knocked her unconscious and basically, the window sill choked her to death.
