Since Kirbyville Vet recommended Pennel's Kennels I figured I may as well explain why you should stay away from them, also.
Animals are important and a lot of people, not just us, love our animals more than anything else. Would you go to a doctor you didn't like? Why take your dog or cat to a vet who is a jerk?
We always had a problem with the girl who answers his phone. Usually Ken would call to get Sherlock's heart medicine refilled, but a few times I have made the call. She is very rude on the phone, asking me snotty-like "who prescribed that?", when I asked her to order Sherlock's special dog food he has to have for his heart. Well, duh, it should of been in their computer!
Every time we called to make an appointment for one of the dogs, they were always having computer problems and would have to call us back later. I was starting to think that the girl just doesn't know how to use the computer.
The final straw came when Ken called to get Sherlock's Addison Disease pills refilled. The vet himself got on the phone and insisted on us bringing Sherlock in for blood tests before he would refill the script. We have a canine medical book and are always researching the Internet for the latest information on our dogs' health problems. We know that for Addison's Disease, the dog only needs the blood test about once a year. This jerk was trying to tell us every 3 months ($$$$?).
When Ken told him what the experts recommend, and the guy realized we aren't idiots, he tried to use the excuse that some people will try to get refills for their dogs after the dog has died so they can sell the drugs on the street. Hello?? Flourdicort is NOT a narcotic and would be valued at absolutely zilch on the black market. The vet was just trying to get money coming in to the office by making us bring the dog in when it wasn't necessary.
