KATY-DID-IT

Katy went to the vet today for her rabies shot and a general checkup. She needs a dental cleaning, which we'll have done after the 4th of July.

Katy is 9 yrs. old and is the sweetest Miniature Yorkie. She has a enlarged heart, is starting to get cataracts, and has a tendency to 'plop' when you try to pick her up and keeps her head down towards her rear, making it hard for her to walk.

When she was about 2 yrs. old, she was chasing the cat. Little Bit leaped into the bathtub to get away from her, but she followed him. She hit her head hard on the tub, knocking her out. Ever since, she's had the problem with her head. The vet thought she may have knocked a small chip of skull bone into her brain causing a slight stroke. She's also had a hard time breathing.

Our new vet seems to think that her problems are due to a collapsed trachea tube, which is common in yorkies. That makes sense. She's a sweetie, though.
