Finally!! Kairi Anne Helmin has been born!!
The previous 11 or so hours are now just a blur. Nothing else matters; Kairi is here! The group out in the hallway was told that there would only be a few people at a time allowed in the room. Lisa went in first, and I followed shortly after. I went over to Christopher and gave him a big hug. We both started crying and just clung to each other. I turned to Jamie and Kairi. Both of them were so beautiful, it was just awesome. There are just no words to describe the feeling that overcame me.
I knew that the others were still waiting out in the hallway, and just as I was going to go out of the room to give them a chance, they all started coming in. The room was full of people, everyone's cameras were clicking away. Everyone took turns holding Kairi; laughing, smileing, and crying; it was better than Christmas.
While in the room, Poppa Tom was standing near the bed and Kairi opened her mouth real wide. Poppa Tom laughed and made the comment: "She's going to make some lucky man happy". I'm sure my jaw dropped and I shot him a disgusted look. How could anyone say that about a brand new baby? Do these people have no class?
Jamie had told me a while back that her and Emmy have always been in competion with each other. Emmy stood there and all of a sudden she grabbed her belly (she's pregnant) and let out a loud moan. Jamie's mother turned to her and told her to settle down, that this was Jamie's day and Emmy would be the center of attention in a few months. Those weren't her exact words, but you get the gist. I could tell Emmy was embarrassed and she didn't say a whole lot the rest of the time we were there.
Finally the nurse came in to take the baby to the nursery to be fully checked. Christopher and Jamie needed time alone, so everyone slowly left. I can't wait to come back tomorrow!
